THE HAVRE TEAM
Who We Are

Chris Johnsrud
Employment Specialist
Chris joined the MEC team in July 2025 to help establish our presence in the Havre, Montana area. He is a dedicated disability rights advocate with deep roots in the community, drawing on both personal experience and a lifelong commitment to service. Chris grew up in Havre, where he continues to live close to his mother and two children. His interests—volunteering, hunting, fishing, and working on cars—reflect his practical, hands-on approach to life and community. After various careers in management and technology, including serving as a Wireless Network Manager at Triangle Telephone and a Technical Advisor for GE Transportation, Chris became physically disabled five years ago. This experience became a turning point, strengthening his commitment to self-advocacy and inspiring him to support others navigating similar challenges. Chris currently serves as a Governor-appointed board member and the President of the Montana State Independent Living Council. He also contributes to the Montana Youth Transitions Committee and works directly with individuals as a Peer Support Specialist and Community Programs Facilitator at North Central Independent Living Services.
